What it takes to be a freelance musician
Working as a professional, freelance musician requires a particular skill set. Think you’ve got it? Make sure you’ve got these important things down:
- Excellent sight reader
- Play in tune
- Play with beautiful sound
- Retain all feedback from one rehearsal
- Don’t repeat mistakes
- Don’t wear perfumes or scented lotions (irritates wind section!)
- Keep instrument in top condition
- Have a flexible schedule
- Say yes (if you want to keep getting calls!)
- Look classy for each job
- And concentrate when you’re playing a show with laser beams and shooting flames!
